What skills will I learn?
Paired Muscle Relaxation (Squishy)
The science of paired muscle relaxation is fascinating. When you tighten a voluntary muscle, relax it, and allow it to rest, the muscle will become more relaxed than it was before it was tightened. Relaxed muscles require less oxygen, so your breathing and heart rate will slow down.Mammalian Dive Reflex (Cooling mask)
When we’re upset, our bodies often feel hot and our heart races fast too. To counter this, use our I Am Mindful cold mask and follow the instructions provided to activate the mammalian dive reflex to slow your heart rate and to help you cool down—both physically and emotionally.
Paced Breathing (Oils)
Breathing in through the nose, holding breath and exhaling through the mouth. Breathing sequence to activate the parasympathetic nervous system and help reduce emotional pain.
Mindfulness (Sand)
The sand is used as a grounding tool to tech young people how to connect to the present moment and their senses and get unstuck from sticky thoughts
Distraction Skill (Word Search)
Replace negative, anxious thoughts with activities that busy your mind, such as our I AM Mindful Word Search. Distractions like this can help you avoid self-destructive behaviour until you’re able to achieve emotion regulation.
So many more coping skills!! All included in our coping plan that comes with the I.A.M Kit.
When you buy a box not only do you help yourself but also it helps us to reach our goal to give a box for free to as many young people under 25 admitted to a psychiatric hospital to assist with their recovery journey.
Thank you for your support!
